Seven years ago my husband and I bought a piece of property on Kiawah Island and started the process of finding an architect and builder. After talking on several occasions with Richard Nevil we engaged his services. Having never built before and always having restored old houses we were totally new to this concept.

The view from the back of our property is spectacular and we wanted to expose as many rooms as possible to that view. We also wanted the house to have architectural elements that reflect older buildings. Richard and I worked together for about nine months before we broke ground. I am very visual and had definite ideas about what I basically wanted. He took my ideas and created a house with so much charm and functionality. It has many interesting architectural aspects while respecting and reflecting our way of life.

Richard was so creative and patient throughout the project as we went from rendering to rendering making changes, reconfiguring, etc. He kept telling me it was a “process” and that all the discussions just made the final design better. I easily established rapport with Richard and looked forward to each step of the project as it came up. I felt so comfortable and included in the process. I knew it was our house but I also knew that his talent gave us a house that far exceeded our dreams.

Now that we are in our house six years we still like it as much as we did six years ago. I also so enjoyed the whole process so much that someday, if we build another house, we will use Richard again. I would be happy to talk to anyone who had any questions or were considering using Richard Nevil.
